The community at Gonzaga College High School is in grief following the unexpected death of longtime athletic director Joe Reyda.
The school said that Reyda passed away on Tuesday morning at his home after what seemed to be a heart attack.
Joe was a much-loved and valuable contributor to our school community. In his role as our longtime athletic director, he helped thousands of young men make the most of their time at Gonzaga, according to school president Rev. Joseph Lingan. He was a devout husband, father, and friend who led with humility and compassion.
For students and coworkers, Reyda served as a leader and an example. He cherished Gonzaga. He was incredibly happy to work at the institution and to be an alumnus.

Reyda’s funeral was not immediately disclosed, nor was any information. His two girls and wife will continue to live.
