Eddie Murphy is looking forward to his big return to Saturday Night Live! As you may be aware, the actor was part of the iconic comedy show for four years before he left in 1984.
That being said, tonight Eddie is set to host SNL for the first time since leaving and it’s definitely a big day for him, almost like a school ‘reunion’ of sorts!
After all, the series is what really put his name out there and launched his very successful acting career.
But, of course, it was a win-win situation since Eddie also helped SNL with its ratings a lot when he joined, all because of his great talent as a comedian.
Now, while chatting with fellow SNL alum Jimmy Fallon, on his late night show, he revealed that ‘It is a lot like going back to your old high school or going back to college because it’s the exact same system in place. It’s kinda surreal. Thirty-five years since I’ve been back. I went for the 40th. Thirty-five years since I’ve actually done the show.’
While this is an official return to the stage of SNL, he did make a brief appearance back in 2015 as well.
At the time, the series was celebrating its 40th anniversary and he made an appearance as himself since the celebration featured a number of SNL’s former cast members.
Furthermore, Prince also performed at the event’s after-party. Sadly, the legend passed away just last year at the age of 57.
That being said, while on The Tonight Show, Eddie talked about some memories with the music icon.
Apparently, ‘Prince had a roller skating party. It was like 2 or 3 in the morning. We’re at his house and Prince goes, ‘Who wants to go roller skating?’ We went to this roller rink at like 3 in the morning. You know some sneakers, they would have, when you walked, they would light up? He had skates that when he skated, they would light up. It was surreal.’

Eddie went on to mention that Prince also used to stay at a house just down the street from his own home!
